Ponysaurus: Fig Saison

Ponysaurus is a "newer" brewery in Durham, and they are quickly becoming one of my favorites. All of their beer is delicious, but tonight I review my staple: Fig Saison.

The Pariculars:
Beer Type: Saison
ABV: 6.3%
SRM: N/A
IBUs: 27

As described by Ponysaurus:

Our take on the crisp, flavorful ales brewed by farmers specifically for summer refreshment, the Fig Saison starts with several varieties of wheat, barley, rye, and, of course, figs. With a complex mix of yeast and fruit aromas that perfectly match its higher level of carbonation, the Fig Saison pours a rich red color and finishes dry with a mix of fruit, floral, spice, and subtle fig-ish notes.

As described by Me:

This is my go to beer at Ponysaurus. Refreshing, complex and fantastic taste from start to finish. It isn't for everyone though as the higher level of carbonation gives some the "full" feeling.  It is only available on tap and in NC to my knowledge, although the brewery does have cans to take home. With a relatively low ABV, I can probably drink 2-3 of these if I am driving and have eaten from Ponysaurus' delicious assortment of snacks or one of the local food trucks that is always at the brewery. If I am riding or have some cans at my place, I can put away 6-7 and feel pretty good about life without becoming too belligerent. If you can find this beer you should try it. If not, you have a good reason to come to Durham (there are literally hundreds of good reasons). If you do look me up and we can enjoy this one together. First one is on me.
